RIP Chris Cornell

This is shocking and terribly sad news…. Chris Cornell was not only an amazing musician but also a generous spirit that will be sorely missed. Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Audioslave, solo work. What a voice. What a body of work. Our thoughts are with his family, bandmates, friends and fans…. Truly heartbreaking. RIP Chris

To kick-start the celebration, on April 22, 2017, UMe/Anthem/ole will release a limited edition, 12” single for Cygnus X-1 as an exclusive for Record Store Day, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Featuring “Book I: The Voyage” and “Book II: Hemispheres,” this is the first time these tracks will be released as a single and the pressing will be limited to only 5000 copies. Rush Announce Donation to Gord Downie Brain Cancer Research foundation

Earlier this month, Canadian Music Week announced that the members of RUSH would be the 2017 recipients of the Allan Slaight Humanitarian Spirit Award at Canadian Music Week in April. Part of this prestigious Humanitarian award includes $40,000 to be made to the recipient’s charity of choice. The members of Rush – Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, Neil Peart – have unanimously decided to direct the funds to the Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research at Sunnybrook. “We are pleased to direct this generous donation from the Allan Slaight Humanitarian award to the Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research at Sunnybrook. The documentary Rush | Time Stand Still is coming to theatres in US & Canada on November 3. The DVD/BluRay will be released November 18. Rush to receive Key to YYZ

Mayor Tory to present Rush with key to the City of Toronto Mayor John Tory will present the key to the city to the members of Rush – Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart. At the official opening of the new Lee Lifeson Art Park this Saturday at 1:00 p.m., Lee and Lifeson will join Mayor Tory for the presentation. “Rush has played a vital role in defining Toronto’s musical identity and given so much to our city through their music, live performances and their generous support for charities,” said Mayor Tory. “We are pleased to honour them with a key to the city and the launch of the
