CTV: Rush inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

LOS ANGELES — Rush fans can relax. The band is now officially in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The Canadian rockers were welcomed into the musical fraternity at Thursday’s 28th annual induction ceremony by the Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins. “We’ve been saying for a long time that this wasn’t a big deal,” drummer-lyricist Neil Peart told the Nokia Theatre crowd, most of whom came out to specifically support the band. “It turns out, it kind of is.” Full article and video here: http://www.ctvnews.ca/entertainment/rush-inducted-into-rock-and-roll-hall-of-fame-1.1242997

Canada Post Rocks Out New Stamps Featuring Canadian Bands

Ottawa (ON) — Just in time for the celebration of Canadian music and musicians at the JUNO awards next week, Canada Post is proud to give Canadians a preview of this edition of the Canadian Recording Artist stamp series, to be released in July, featuring for the first time, Canadian bands. Beau Dommage, Rush, The Guess Who and The Tragically Hip will be spotlighted in this fourth issue in a series created to honour musical legends. “This year’s series features Canadian bands that have shaped the music industry in Canada,” says Jim Phillips, Director of Stamp Services for Canada Post. “Each band has achieved national acclaim, along with international radio

 

The Village Voice: “Rush to Judgment, and the Rock Hall of Fame”

Rush fans have been very angry for a very long time. Not at the long-lived Canadian prog-rock trio–no, they worship them unequivocally. The “world’s biggest cult band” has a fanatical following heavily composed of dudes, and in the last decade, those dudes have been pissed, ranting about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s perceived slight of their beloved band. It’s taken more than 10 years, but Rush finally got what they didn’t really care about in the first place: an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, class of 2013.
